Service Manager - Special Educational Needs & Disabilities (SEND)
37 hours per week
This role is office-based; however, it also offers some agile or remote working
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Isle of Wight Council as Service Manager for Special Education Needs (SEN), leading our Special Educational Needs and Neurodiversity services and playing a key role in improving outcomes for children and young people across the Island.
In this senior leadership role, you will be responsible for ensuring the SEN Assessment and Review Team fulfils all statutory duties in line with legislation and the SEND Code of Practice. You will provide strategic and operational leadership across both SEN and Neurodiversity services, ensuring high-quality, responsive support for schools, settings, children, young people and their families.
The post is part of the Council’s agile working approach, with County Hall, Newport as the contractual base alongside flexible working arrangements. The role will involve regular engagement across the Island, including visits to schools and educational settings and meetings with parents and professionals as required.
You will bring strong, up-to-date knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice, along with proven leadership skills and experience of leading and developing teams. You will work collaboratively with school leaders and partners to drive inclusive practice, continuous improvement and system-wide impact.
