Legal Support Officer

Hours: 34 per week
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Legal Services department at the IW Council.
We are looking for a motivated legal support officer to join the Isle of Wight Council to provide support to all staff within legal services.
The role involves providing business support to the whole legal service area. These tasks include raising purchase orders and processing payments; diarising, preparing and minuting meetings; administration of relevant systems and databases; and file management. As well as more general administration and support tasks, both offices based, and electronic.
The role also supports the Corporate Information Unit, whose responsibilities include dealing with, and advising on, Freedom of Information Act requests, as well as providing advice on GDPR and data protection, including dealing with Subject Access Requests.
The successful candidate will be able to prioritise their workload and be confident in dealing with colleagues of all levels of seniority, as well as external customers and professionals.
The role requires attention to detail and excellent IT and communication skills.
Previous experience of working in a legal or other professional environment would be an advantage.
