Why are we asking you to share information?
Before we can progress your enquiry, we need your permission (consent) to record any contact details and personal
information that you provide; enabling us to share further information about our service and assess your suitability
to foster.
Our Privacy Policy:
- The Isle of Wight Council is responsible for processing the information that you provide. The Data Protection
Officer can be contacted by email to dpo@iow.gov.uk.
- Your details will be stored in our recruitment database, within the Council’s secure data centre for a
period of two years. After this time, if your enquiry has not progressed, your record will be deleted
automatically.
- While we hold them, your details will not be shared with anyone outside of the fostering department, unless a
lawful basis requires it.
- Although you may agree to us storing your information now, you can withdraw your consent at any time by
contacting the service.
- Even if you have agreed to further contact with the Service, you are under no obligation to progress your
interest at this time.
- For further details of how the council processes personal information, including your rights under data
protection laws, please visit the council website.
What happens next?
From initial contact we will share the information that you have requested and will offer you a
consultation visit with a member of the Fostering team.
While your enquiry is active, we will attempt to contact you on three separate occasions, via email, telephone and
post. If we don’t hear from you after our third attempt, we will assume that you choose not to progress at
this time.
